Amos Meron and Michael Price founded Empyrean Capital Partners, LP in 2004 with two objectives:
- preserve capital in a variety of market environments, and,

With over 15 years of experience and what it believes are some of the best investment minds in the country, Empyrean is a multi-billion dollar investment manager that advises institutional investors, pension funds, endowments and foundations, and high-net worth persons.

Founding Partner & Chief Investment Officer
Amos Meron co-founded Empyrean Capital Partners in 2004. Mr. Meron has extensive experience spanning over a 30-year investment management career overseeing a wide variety of investments in the special situations strategy. Prior to founding Empyrean, Mr. Meron was a Partner at Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he was a member of the Arbitrage and Proprietary Equity Strategies Departments. In 1996, Mr. Meron was promoted to co-head of the U.S. group, and in 1997 to sole head. Beginning in late 2000, Mr. Meron founded and headed a new business initiative for the Equities Division focused on proprietary trading opportunities in the Technology and Telecom sectors. From 1989 to 1991, Mr. Meron was a member of Goldman Sachs’ Principal Investment Area (the firm’s private equity arm). Mr. Meron served on Goldman Sachs’ firm-wide Senior Trader Committee, the Technology Operating Committee, and as a member of the Advisory Board for Goldman Sachs Private Equity Partners (a multi- billion dollar fund-of-funds). Mr. Meron earned an A.B. in Economics from Harvard College, graduating summa cum laude in 1989.
Brian Joseph has 18 years of investment management experience. Mr. Joseph joined Empyrean in 2009 as a Partner. From 2003-2009, Mr. Joseph was a Research Analyst with GoldenTree Asset Management, L.P., a value- oriented hedge fund based in New York. From 2001-2003, Mr. Joseph was an Analyst in both the Private Equity Advisory Group and the Media Telecom Group at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. He earned an AB in Economics from Harvard College in 2001, graduating cum laude.
Andrew Reger has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. He joined Empyrean in January 2012 as a Portfolio Manager. From 2007-2011, Mr. Reger was a Research Analyst and Portfolio Manager with GoldenTree Asset Management, L.P., a value-oriented hedge fund based in New York. From 2006-2007, he was an equity analyst at Chaplin Global covering the Technology, Media and Telecom sectors. Prior to Chaplin Global, he was an equity analyst at Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. from 2004 through 2006. From 2002 through 2004, Mr. Reger was a capital markets analyst at Thomson Financial. Mr. Reger began his career as an auditor at KPMG LLP from 1999 through 2002. Mr. Reger graduated from Catholic University of America in 1999 with a BA in Accounting.
Armando Sistos has 17 years of experience in the financial services industry. Mr. Sistos joined Empyrean in 2009 as a Research Analyst. From 2008-2009, he was an Associate at Canyon Capital Advisors LLC, a credit-focused hedge fund based in Los Angeles, in the Healthcare group. From 2005-2008, Mr. Sistos was an Associate at Perry Capital LLC, an event-driven multi-strategy hedge fund based in New York, where he was a member of the US Equities Healthcare team. From 2002-2004, he was an Analyst with Goldman Sachs & Co., first in the Investment Banking Division and then in the Principal Investment Area. Mr. Sistos earned a BA in Economics and Mathematics from Yale University in 2002, graduating cum laude.
MICHAEL A. PRICE
Michael Price co-founded Empyrean Capital Partners in 2004 and he served as Empyrean’s Chief Operating Officer until the end of 2015. Mr. Price has demonstrated expertise in strategic business development and risk management for over 30 years in the financial services industry. Prior to founding the Firm, he spent 17 years with Goldman, Sachs & Co. Mr. Price was named a Managing Director in 1996 and Partner in 1998. From 2002- 2003, Mr. Price served as an Advisory Director to the firm. From 1998-2002, he was the sole Partner responsible for the Global Convertible Bond Department. Mr. Price co-Headed this same business from 1994-1998. In Mr. Price’s first eight years with the firm, he was an Institutional Salesperson in the Equities Division based in Los Angeles. At the time of his retirement, Mr. Price was a member of the Partnership Committee. He also served on the Advisory Committee to the GS Hedge Fund Strategies Group, Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s fund of funds advisor. Mr. Price earned an MBA at Northwestern University in 1986 and a BA in Economics from UCLA, graduating magna cum laude in 1983.
C. MARTIN MEEKINS
Partner, Chief Operating Officer & General Counsel
Marty Meekins has over 20 years of legal and business experience. Mr. Meekins joined Empyrean in 2011 from Perella Weinberg Partners, a global financial services firm that provides advisory and asset management services, where he was Assistant General Counsel from 2007-2011. Mr. Meekins served as General Counsel to Ace Ventures, a private investment firm from 2006-2007. From 1997 to 2005, Mr. Meekins was a Corporate Associate at several top national law firms, including Vinson & Elkins in Houston, Covington & Burling in Washington, DC, and White and Case LLP in Los Angeles. Mr. Meekins received his BA in 1993 from The University of Texas at Austin in Plan II, with honors, was a Dean’s Distinguished Graduate and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. In 1997, he contemporaneously received both his MBA from The University of Texas McCombs School of Business and JD from The University of Texas School of Law. Mr. Meekins is member of the American Bar Association’s Hedge Funds Subcommittee, as well as a former member of the New York City Bar Association’s Private Investment Fund Committee.
TANAZ FAGHRI DIETZ
Assistant General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer
Tanaz Faghri Dietz has ten years of corporate and securities law experience. She joined Empyrean in 2013 as Counsel & Director of Compliance. Ms. Dietz began her legal career in 2009 at Ares Management LLC, where she focused on corporate governance, transactions and compliance matters. In 2010, she joined Proskauer Rose LLP as a Corporate Associate, specializing in capital markets transactions, mergers & acquisitions, securities law and regulatory matters for public and private asset managers and private funds. Ms. Dietz also completed the FINRA Institute at The Wharton School Executive Program in 2014 and is a Certified Regulatory and Compliance Professional. Ms. Dietz received a BS in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University in 2006, graduating magna cum laude. In 2009, she received her JD from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis.
KATE F. BAUMANN
Director of Business Development
Kate has 12 years of experience in the financial services industry and joined Empyrean in May 2017. From 2010- 2017, Ms. Baumann was a member of the Investor Relations team at Eton Park Capital Management in New York. Ms. Baumann began her career at J.P. Morgan Private Bank in 2007, where she worked as a Banking Analyst until 2009, and as a Global Investment Analyst from 2009 to 2010. Ms. Baumann received a B.S. in Business Administration – Finance from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business in 2007, graduating with a minor in Spanish.
JENNIFER T. CHANG
Director of Client Services
Jennifer Chang has 15 years of experience in the financial services industry. She joined Empyrean in April 2016. From 2012-2016, Ms. Chang was Vice President in the IRBD Global Client Operations & Reporting division at Blackstone Alternative Asset Management in New York. Ms. Chang began her career at Blackstone in 2004, where she worked as a Performance Analyst until 2007, and as an Associate on the Business Analysis team from 2008 to 2011. Ms. Chang received a B.S. in Finance and Accounting from New York University’s Stern School of Business in 2004, graduating cum laude with a minor in Journalism
